Guidelines for hair transplant surgery preparation

Read the following tips to better understand the patient protocol on the day of your hair transplantation. Our team will provide you with more extensive and personalised instructions prior to your arrival.

  • Before beginning the hair transplant procedure, please advise us of any medical conditions or drugs you are taking (and throughout the consultation phases of the arrangement).
  • Please see your doctor before beginning your hair transplantation surgery if you have any health concerns. We will provide guidance as well, but it should be used in conjunction with the one provided by your main physician or dermatologist.
  • Avoid blood thinning medications.
  • Before beginning the hair transplant procedure, please advise us of any medical conditions or drugs you are taking (and throughout the consultation phases of the arrangement).
  • Avoid consuming alcohol, cigarettes or caffeine the day before your procedure. Using both may diminish the efficacy of the local anaesthetics provided by your doctor before the treatment.
  • Smoking lowers blood flow to the scalp by constricting blood vessels and lowering nourishment delivery to the follicles. Furthermore, you should avoid smoking for the first week after surgery, as this is when your follicles demand the most nourishment. Moreover, quitting smoking for good is also a smart idea if you want to improve the health and density of your hair.
  • Shower and take care of your personal hygiene the morning before the treatment. Make sure you don't have any style products in your hair.
  • Arrive well rested and with a small meal.
  • Wear comfortable clothing because the process will take about six hours, depending on the number of grafts you receive. We recommend wearing a buttoned shirt or a wide-collar t-shirt to avoid tugging the shirt over your head. This is also an excellent practise to keep up in the weeks after the surgery.
  • No one is allowed to accompany you inside the surgery room. Your companions will be accommodated in our cafeteria lounge or waiting room.
  • Avoid chewing gum and talking too much during the process
  • Avoid using your own cell phones or touch-screen devices throughout the operation.
  • Avoid handling any of the grafts during and after the treatment.
